A message from the President to freshmen of Intake 28: “Live your youth to the fullest and strive constantly to become successful and useful citizens of society.”

On September 5, 2024, in the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of the new academic year nationwide, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a welcoming event for the freshmen of Intake 28 admitted in 2024 with the theme “A New Beginning at TDTU.”

Step into your university journey with optimism, positivity, and enthusiasm. Make the most of the opportunities that the university environment brings, live your youth to the fullest, and constantly strive to become successful and useful citizens of society. Make your time at Ton Duc Thang University the most beautiful and meaningful memories of your life, said Dr. Tran Trong Dao – Chairman of the Science and Training Council and President of TDTU, in his welcoming speech to the new students.

During the meeting and the Student Orientation Week for the freshmen of Intake 28, the President warmly introduced the students to the leaders of various departments, centers, and functional units, as well as the leaders of faculties. The leaders extended their warm welcome to the freshmen who had become members of the “TDTU Family” and committed to accompanying, supporting, and guiding them throughout their university journey at the “TDTU Family.”

During the orientation session, TDTU freshmen were given advice from their lecturers on what to prepare for the transition from high school to university, enabling them to confidently navigate their new journey filled with opportunities and challenges. Students can foster qualities such as independence, self-reliance, and self-responsibility, as well as developing self-study, passion for reading, and self-research. Students were encouraged to cultivate perseverance, discipline, and determination. In an ever-evolving world, students should not rely solely on formal education, but be proactive to equip themselves with new knowledge and skills. Freshmen were also encouraged to join clubs to expand their social circles, connect with friends, and grow together.

Additionally, the students were introduced to the three ethical conduct, a traditional moral education program at TDTU for all students. The core content of this program is “achieving good learning results as filial duties to parents, respecting the laws of the country and regulations of the University, and caring for the community, not being selfish.” By understanding and fulfilling these 3 tasks well, students will be able to complete themselves, develop their expertise, become filial children in the family, and become good citizens of society. For many years, the three ethical conduct have made an important contribution to building the unique qualities of TDTU students: filial piety, discipline, and a sense of community.

At the event, the freshman Phan Cao Thuy Linh from the Faculty of Information Technology shared: “Today, attending this event, I was really impressed by the professionalism and the warm, enthusiastic welcome from the Presidential Board and the lecturers from departments and faculties. I was also particularly impressed by the University’s commitment to the philosophy of liberal arts education and the frequent use of English on campus, which surprised me, and I am eager to explore and experience more as a student at the University.”

The Student Orientation Week is an educational program designed to equip new students with the necessary knowledge to confidently step into their new environment. The Student Orientation Week for the freshmen of Intake 28 takes place from August 28, 2024, to September 13, 2024, including modules such as “Essentials for TDTUer,” “Starting a new journey,” “Connecting passions,” and “Comprehensive self-development.” Other contents, such as the University’s rules and regulations, will be posted online on the Student Portal for easy access.
